New Artists On SuperRare

Weekly introduction to new artists on SuperRare.

Cody Seekins

Seekins travels the world and paints; currently from Thailand. Early art influences as a military dependent in Italy, and strong childhood fascination with fantasy novels and RPG’s catalyzed a life long creative exploration. Over time, Seekins cultivated a style born out of psychedelic surrealism, in tandem with his attainment of a Masters of Fine Art Painting. A crypto enthusiast, Seekins has become involved in NFT creation of his works, as well as novel digital-analogue art editions.

The Lovers
Edition 1 of 1
This work is an original interpretation of the Lovers archetype of the tarot tradition. In the image are the two infatuates, consisting of a love struck rabbit and a polymorphic being. Additional entities include a sun and a glittering rainbow Shiva Lingam. The baby-faced sun and the general environment are created in the manner of the Teletubbies cosmology. The lovers set upon a radiating surface akin to the game Twister, engaged in an intimate moment. Whereas the bunny is entranced, even possessed by his affection, his partner exists simultaneously in their physical play and an introspective dissociation into various psychological forms. Opening its mouth wide, it prepares to consume the glittering Shiva Linga which swims above the crown of the rabbit.

Balkan Karisman

I have interest in understanding the concept of time and space; the relationship between the present as where we are and the future as ahead of us.

Edition 1 of 1
Effects of gentrification problem are not replaceable, and leads to chaos. Displacement in this case not only refers to the translocated individuals, but also to the displacement of history, culture and social capital. The focus of the work is the relationship between the effect of change and the observer. Transformation, which often seems as a landscape, opposes the elements of time and depth.

Mother Theracey Emin
Edition 1 of 1
Part of the HYBRID HEROINE series, Mother Theracey Emin is the bizarre hybrid of Saint Mother Theresa and British shock artist Tracey Emin. Their contrasting lives come together here in a wild ride of imagery and visual references. One of the last symbolic details to be added was the birds – London pigeons, a dove and the very colorful Himalayan monal pheasants, representative of locations, but also perhaps their respective characters.
